116 Projects Accelerate Jiaxing’s hydrological Construction

Currently in Jiaxing, water flows can be monitored through “one network”; hydrological monitoring is guaranteed by three extra measures and important hydrological monitoring stations are fixed with “nine devices and operators”. In order to give full play to hydrological roles in governments’ decisions-making, economic and social development and droughts and floods prevention, Jiaxing Hydrology Station will construct 116 projects to promote “5+1” Projects against floods in 2020. 

In accordance with the official from Jiaxing Water Conservancy, “5+1” Projects are to meet the general requirements of “strengthening weak points and supervision and striving to be the first to promote high-quality water conservancy work”. “5” means five projects on improving hydrological forecasts, communications, stations and networks, model stations and comprehensive platforms construction. “1” refers to the project to strengthen the weak points of hydrology work against super typhoons, storms and floods.

According to the “5+1” Projects, Jiaxing will build or rebuild 25 hydrological monitoring stations, eight hydrological monitoring stations fixed with Beidou and 4G communication modules and 26 water gauges, prepare 15 sets of spare remote monitoring terminals, make “double safe measures” for 21 important hydrological monitoring stations to ensure their safety and reliability in information collection, make each hydrological monitoring station have two terminals and each have Beidou and 4G communication modules, and fix satellite phones, emergency power supplies, telescopes and strong flashlights for 29 important hydrological monitoring stations.

The “5+1” Projects will speed up Jiaxing’s hydrological construction and make local hydrological monitoring guaranteed by “one network” “three extra measures” and “nine devices”.

“One network” means the water flow is monitored by a monitoring network. A new number of automatic water flow monitoring stations like a network are to be built and equipped with advanced monitoring technologies and devices to automatically monitor the water flows of all rivers around the clock.

“Three extra measures” mean fixing each hydrological monitoring station with a second hydrological monitoring equipment and terminal equipment to realize both front-end and terminal data collection, upgrading 2G hydrological data terminal to 4G terminal and transferring hydrological data through both Beidou and 4G communication modules.

  “Nine devices and operators” mean that important hydrological monitoring stations are equipped with primary and secondary monitoring devices, satellite phones, emergency power supplies, telescopes, strong flashlights, video monitoring systems, man-made water gauges and operators on duty for floods prevention emergency response to improve hydrological monitoring stations’ ability against super typhoons, storms and floods.
