Yesterday afternoon the opening ceremony was held for the Top-end Innovation Platform Conference of Yangtze Delta Region Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang & Nanometer Biomedical Research Center. Such leaders attended the ceremony as Zhang Bing- secretary of the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee, Fan Chunhai, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and other leaders from Jiaxing like Gong Heyan, Ao Kaoquan.

According to Zhang Bing, this institute is a new innovation platform that was directly planned and strongly supported by Comrade Xi Jinping when he worked in Zhejiang. It is a major achievement from province-university cooperation and an early exploration and practice of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. Since its establishment in Jiaxing, the Institute has made outstanding contributions to local development and played a leading role in sci&tech innovation.

Zhang Bing said the Institute has achieved remarkable progress in building the platforms commercializing sci-tech achievements, and attracting investment projects and experts in recent years. The establishment of this center is exciting. We will continue to support the development of the Institute and the Center, and expect the Center will obtain splendid achievements at an early date.

Fan Chunhai said the Center will introduce to Jiaxing the namometer research achievements of famous scientists, industrialize them, realize the production and sales of nanometer products and build the Center into an international leading platform for nanometer biomedical solutions. He hoped that local Party committees and authorities can give more supports to its development especially in preferential policies, funds, investment projects, sites, etc. to promote the Center to obtain achievements as early as possible and contribute more to local high-quality development.

It is reported that the Center will focus on nanometer biomedical fields, especially on the R&D of IVD, new biological medicines, high-end medical equipment and cutting-edge DNA storage technologies, expand the R&D and industrialization of international and domestic top-end projects and build the Center into an innovative industry-university-institute cooperation platform and a new type of innovation carrier promoting sci&tech progress and industrial development.
