Jiaxing’s economic achievements were released by Bureau of Statistics of Jiaxing on January 20, 2023. In 2022, Jiaxing’s economic development made progress while keeping steady. GDP reached 673.945 billion yuan, an increase of 2.5% over the previous year, and a growth rate of 0.1 percentage points higher than that of the first three quarters, according to the calculation of the GDP.

The primary, secondary and tertiary industries made a steady growth and maintained a better development momentum.

In 2022, the output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery was 23.76 billion yuan, an increase of 2.5% over the previous year at comparable prices. The planting area of grains reached 154,267 hectares, ranking the first in Zhejiang for the 17th consecutive year. The grain output reached 982,000 tons, the most in recent nine years.

In 2022, the value added of the industrial enterprises above the designated size reached 281.563 billion yuan, an increase of 3.9% over the previous year and 0.3 percentage points higher than the national average. Of the 33 industrial categories, 18 ones achieved positive growths, accounting for 54.5%. Of the top 10 industries, the value added of automobile manufacturing, computer communications and electrical machinery industries increased by 22.8%, 22.5 % and 20.8% respectively year on year.

Emerging industries continued to grow. In 2022, the value added of the above-the-designated-size enterprises of the hi-tech manufacturing industry, core manufacturing industry of digital economy, equipment manufacturing industry, strategic emerging industry and hi-tech industry increased by 19.7%, 14.1%, 14.0%, 12.6% and 6.7% respectively, 8.2, 3.4, 7.8, 2.6 and 0.8 percentage points higher than the average of the same industries of Zhejiang.

In 2022, the value added of the tertiary industry totaled 287.583 billion yuan, an increase of 2.0% over the previous year. In the first 11 months of 2022, the operating revenue of the service-oriented enterprises above the designated size totaled 105.699 billion yuan, an increase of 8.9% year on year, 6.1 percentage points higher than the average of Zhejiang.

In 2022, digital driving forces provided more support for Jiaxing’s economic growth. From January to November of 2022, the above-the-designated-size enterprises of information transmission and software information technology service industry achieved an operating revenue of 15.415 billion yuan, an increase of 23.5%, ranking the first in Zhejiang

Investment, consumption, import and export all achieved rapid and steady development.

In 2022, the investment in fixed assets increased by 7.2% over the previous year, 1.0 percentage point higher than that of the previous year. The investment in the manufacturing industry grew by 18.4%, 8.2 percentage points higher than that of the previous year, 11.2 percentage points higher than the total investment in fixed assets, and 1.4 percentage points higher than the average of Zhejiang.

In 2022, the retail sales of social consumer goods reached 234.273 billion yuan, an increase of 3.0% over the previous year, showing a steady recovery trend. The covid-19 prevention and control accelerated the transformation of consumption patterns, making online retail sales grow rapidly. The retail sales of 85 e-commerce enterprises of Jiaxing reached 5.379 billion yuan, an increase of 38.5% over the previous year.

In 2022, the import and export of Jiaxing were better than those of Zhejiang. The import and export volume totaled 440 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3% over the previous year and 3.2 percentage points higher than the average of Zhejiang. The total export was 321.3 billion yuan, an increase of 14.7% year on year; the total import volume reached 118.7 billion yuan, in increase of 20.6%, 9.9 percentage points higher than the average of Zhejiang.

In 2022, Jiaxing’s fiscal revenue ranked the third in Zhejiang, indicating local financial market operated soundly. The fiscal revenue totaled 102.999 billion yuan, of which the general public budget revenue was 59.647 billion yuan, ranking the third in Zhejiang. The general public budget expenditure was 82.771 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year. At the end of December 2022, the balance of domestic and foreign currency deposits of the financial institutions of Jiaxing was 1,370.778 billion yuan, an increase of 13.7% over the previous year; the balance of domestic and foreign currency loans of financial institutions of Jiaxing totaled 1,434.545 billion yuan, an increase of 16.8% over the previous year.

Farmers’ incomes ranked the first in Zhejiang for the 19th consecutive year; great progress was achieved in pushing ahead with common prosperity.

The per capita disposable income of rural residents of Jiaxing ranked the first in Zhejiang for the 19th consecutive year in 2022, reaching 46,276 yuan, an increase of 6.1% over the previous year. The per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 72,096 yuan, surpassing the 70,000 yuan for the first time and achieving an increase of 3.2% year on year.

The gap between urban and rural residents’ incomes was further narrowed. In 2022, the urban and rural residents’ income ratio was 1.56, decreasing by 0.04% over the previous year, and continued to be the narrowest in Zhejiang.The income gap among farmers was also narrowed. The per capita disposable income of low-income farmers reached 24,760 yuan, ranking the first in Zhejiang for the third consecutive year and achieving an increase of 12.2% over the previous year, 6.1 percentage points higher than the average of rural residents.

CPI rose slightly in 2022, but the growth of PPI fell. The CPI in urban areas rose by 2.1% over the previous year, 0.1 percentage points lower than the average of Zhejiang. Of the prices of eight main categories of goods and services, the prices of seven categories rose but one fell. In 2022, the PPI rose by 2.5 % year on year.

People’s livelihood and ecological environment were further improved.

The proportion of the expenditure on people’s livelihood increased. In 2022, the government spent 65.921 billion yuan on people’s livelihood, accounting for 79.6% of the general public budget expenditure. Social security was further strengthened. In 2022, people covered by the basic endowment insurance and basic medical insurance projects in the urban areas totaled 3.5512 billion and 4.231 million respectively. The minimum living standard was raised from 920 yuan per person per month to 1,070 yuan per person per month.

In 2022, Jiaxing obtained 87.7 points in terms of ecological environment improvement, 0.2 points higher than those of the previous year, ranking the fourth in Zhejiang. Among the 83 surface water monitoring sections controlled by Jiaxing, Class-III water and above accounted for 100% for the first time, an increase of 6.0 percentage points over the previous year, meaning there is no Class-IV and Class-V water in Jiaxing now.

Economic upgrading was accelerated and innovation-driven development was further strengthened.

In 2022, Jiaxing transformed the manufacturing industry, upgraded 2,284 enterprises of high consumption but low efficiency, and reclaimed approximately 1,840 hectares of land not used efficiently, both exceeding the annual targets of 2022.

The “Phoenix Action” and “Action of 100 Listed Companies” were fully implemented in 2022. 18 new enterprises received tutoring for going public, ranking the third in Zhejiang. The  number of new listed companies totaled 11, ranking the second in Zhejiang; the total number of listed companies of Jiaxing jumped to 80, ranking the fourth in Zhejiang.

In 2022, the output value of new products of the industrial enterprises above the designated size totaled 715.876 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5% over the previous year; the production rate of the new products was 50.5%, 2.3 percentage points higher than that of 2021, and 8.3 percentage points higher than the average of Zhejiang, ranking the second in Zhejiang.

In 2022, Jiaxing made remarkable progress in cultivating innovators. Newly identified national hi-tech enterprises reached 814 and newly identified provincial hi-tech small and medium-sized enterprises totaled 1692, both reaching a record high. Great efforts were made in 2022 to construct sci-tech innovation platforms. In 2022, enterprises-based incubators at or above the provincial level totaled 25, ranking the second in Zhejiang.
