Yesterday afternoon, the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee held a meeting to study Xi Jinping thought on eco-civilization and the “Implementation Plan of the Standing Committee of Provincial People’s Congress of Zhejiang for Establishing an Ecological Civilization Progress Reporting System”, and proposed the implementation opinions. Chen Wei, Secretary of the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee presided over the meeting and delivered a speech, and other leaders attended the meeting as well such as Li Jun, Gao Linghui and Chen Lizhong.

The meeting noted since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, General Secretary Xi Jinping has profoundly grasped the significant role and strategic importance of ecological civilization progress in advancing the socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era and proposed in a creative way a series of new concepts, ideas and strategies, forming Xi Jinping thought on eco-civilization, which provides a fundamental guideline and an action plan for environmental protection in the new era. It is imperative to thoroughly study the scientific essence, people-centered stance, cultural connotations and practical requirements of the thought on ecological civilization to plan and advance ecological protection with broader perspectives and greater efforts at a higher position.

The meeting emphasized we must accurately implement the requirements outlined in the “Implementation Plan” and effectively implement this system, thereby contributing more of Jiaxing’s strengths to building a Beautiful Zhejiang; we must firmly uphold the concept that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” through the determined battle against pollution, and constant pollution reduction and carbon mitigation, deepen ecological civilization institution reforms, fully implement the ecological civilization progress reporting system, and balance high-level environmental protection with high-quality economic and social development to build Jiaxing into a model for a Beautiful China.
